A New Class of Feng Shui

Local Authors Bring Balance and Harmony to the Classroom with New Feng Shui Book for Teachers

Salinas, Calif. February 25, 2004- When Susan Catalano and Evie Bolante first began applying the principles of Feng Shui in their classrooms, they never envisioned it would be so effective. The results were so noticeable that other teachers began asking for advice, prompting the pair to write a book to help teachers create the balance and harmony needed to make teaching pleasant and productive.

Their book, A Light Touch of Feng Shui: A Teacher's Guide for Creating Balance and Harmony in the Classroom will debut at the Asilomar Regional Reading Program at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove on March 6th, followed by a seminar giving tips and techniques for using Feng Shui in the classroom.

While the use of Feng Shui, the Chinese art of placement, has become popular in the home and office, classroom application has been virtually overlooked. "Throughout our exploration of Feng Shui we did a lot of research and became frustrated by the lack of information geared toward classroom application. Since we were unable to find a book specifically intended for teachers, we decided to write one based on what worked for us," said Catalano, "You could buy every Feng Shui book on the market and still not get the information we provide in this book."

The book is an easy to use, spiral-bound guide which educates teachers about Feng Shui principles such as furniture placement and use of color, while providing specific instructions for classroom application. Interspersed throughout are personal experiences from the authors, photos of their classrooms, diagrams and original illustrations along with case studies and testimonials from teachers who have applied these techniques to their own classrooms.

Susan Catalano is a second grade teacher and Evie Bolante is a literacy coach and former classroom teacher for the Salinas City School District. Together they have over 51 years of teaching experience. Their company, Perfect Harmony Press, is the publisher of A Light Touch of Feng Shui: A Teacher's Guide for Creating Balance and Harmony in the Classroom, a Feng Shui book written exclusively for teachers.
